Packaging Tips
- Bring clothes that you can mix and match.
- To avoid wrinkles, choose wool or cotton and polyester blends.
- Pack clothes in plastic bags from the dry cleaners and when you get there, just hang your clothes in the bathroom when you take your shower. The wrinkles will fall out from the steam.
Luggage:
- Don't carry valuables, medications or flammable materials inside your checked luggage.
- Check your suitcase through to your final destination if possible.
- Never leave your luggage unattended.
Baggage allowance:
- Baggage allowances have changed. Effective February 1, 2003 weight allowance is 50 pounds per bag. 51 to 70 pounds will be charged $25.00 per bag, 71 to 100 pounds will be charged $80.00 per bag. Bags weighing 101 lbs or more will not be accepted as checked baggage.
- You are able to carry one bag and check two. Size limits are 61 inches (length + girth).
When leaving the US be sure to carry the following:
- Caribbean/Canada- State issued certified copy of Birth Certificate with a government issued photo ID or passport.
- Europe and all other International Destinations- Valid passport and in some instances a Visa may be required.
- Always carry government issued photo ID such as a driver's license or military ID.
- Carry all medications that you are currently taking in your carry on luggage in the original prescription bottles. If traveling outside of the US you can obtain a letter from your doctor stating which medications you are currently taking.
Evaluating Travel Offers:
- If you have been offered a great bargain on a cruise or resort vacation, but you cannot seem to get all the details unless you pay the company first, you may be dealing with a travel scam. Typically, scam operators won't give you full and complete information in writing until after you've given them a credit card number, certified check or money order. Once you do get further information, there will be restrictions and conditions which make it more expensive, or even impossible, to take your trip.
- Stay away from travel offers that sound "too good to be true." particularly if you have been solicited by phone or have received a postcard or certificate in the mail.
